SEND
At Mercia, we are committed to providing an excellent education for every pupil, no matter their need or background. We are relentless in our work to overcome barriers to learning in order to support every child to succeed academically and to become a well-rounded individual.
For parents of children with Special Educational Needs (SEND), please feel free to contact our Deputy Headteacher/SENCO Mr Fisher, or our Teaching Fellow for SEND, Mrs Calcutt, on 0114 553 9080 if you have any questions or queries. You can also email enquiries@merciaschool.com.
We welcome communication from parents/carers who are concerned about their child's performance or physical/mental wellbeing. Please contact us if you are worried that an SEND may be undiagnosed. Please be reassured that the school monitor pupils closely and will be in contact if we have any concerns at all. For more information on how we run academic intervention, please view the Accelerated Learning tab to the right of this text.
For more information about the support we put in place for pupils with SEND, view our SEND information document and SEND policy. The policies below were ratified in September 2024 and are due for review in October 2025.
